Objective

Without the need for blockbuster graphics or an epic storyline, Paper.io 2 still proves its strong appeal in the world of online games. When playing, players don’t need to spend much time learning the mechanics or getting used to the game’s pace. The objectives in each match are very simple yet highly competitive. Players must expand their territory on the map by moving and "painting" their colour over empty land.

Controls

Players start with a small area marked in a unique colour. Then, they control a square block representing their character to move out of the safe zone using the mouse (or arrow keys/WASD) to create a closed loop and claim more land. However, every move must be made with careful consideration, because while moving outside their territory, a “tail” will appear. If another player seizes the opportunity and crashes into that tail, you will be eliminated from the match immediately.

Strategy Mechanisms & Tips

• Always prioritise safety: Do not expand your territory recklessly. Choose small, quick, and safe loops to avoid having your tail hit by opponents.
• Claim the edges of the map first: Stay close to the edge of the map to reduce the risk of attacks from multiple directions and to better control your area.
• Take advantage of opponents' mistakes: When an opponent’s tail is exposed while they are painting, that’s a golden opportunity to strike and eliminate them.
• Continuously monitor the map: Frequently check the mini-map to detect empty areas, enemy movements, and expansion opportunities.
• Be patient when expanding territory: Instead of rushing to claim large areas, move slowly and steadily, accumulating small territories with certainty. Lasting victory always comes from stability.
